VOLUNTEER WITH US

Work inside the ropes and right on course, helping ensure that play proceeds smoothly and safely, creating an enjoyable experience on the course without distracting players. Work on one hole, and periodically rotate positions around the hole in order to help players locate balls and obtain rulings. Duties require standing in the sun for the duration of the shift. Knowledge of golf etiquette is recommended. Training occurs prior to Tournament week.

Serve as a liaison for the Tournament and information reference for the spectators. Welcome and direct guests at the entry point to their hospitality suite or course entrance. Help ensure an ideal experience by assisting guests with Tournament information. Duties require standing in the sun for the duration of the shift and frequently walking up and down stairs. This committee's training occurs prior to Tournament week.

Get close to the action and see the entire course while making sure players and volunteers stay hydrated. Committee members will be responsible for supplying ice and water to coolers on each tee box as well as water to volunteers on the course.

Must be able to carry a bag of ice or case of water over short distances and safely drive a cart in often crowded conditions.

Provide a welcoming experience for players and their families by providing transportation around the island and to local attractions during their time at the Tournament. Respond to transportation requests from Tournament officials as needed throughout the Tournament. Duties require driving a vehicle in various weather conditions. Driving record check is required.

Coordinate with Tournament officials, golfers and other volunteer committees in the event of inclement weather. Direct and transport players and support staff by van to shelter, and inform Tournament support personnel how to proceed in accordance with TOUR guidelines regarding the resumption or postponement of play. Duties require driving a vehicle in inclement weather conditions. Driving record check is required. Training occurs prior to Tournament week.

Identify and locate shots as quickly as possible so tournament play data can be updated in a timely and accurate manner.

Works closely with the Gallery Management volunteers to ensure the ball is protected if it lands in a high traffic area outside the ropes. Volunteers will be assigned to one of two roles: Ball Spotters and Directional Tee Spotters.

Assist spectators who need special assistance by transporting them via golf cart from the handicapped parking drop-off area to central locations within the golf course in order to enjoy various locations on the course. Duties require driving a golf cart.

MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD AND A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

Standard bearers walk inside the ropes with their group for all 18 holes, carrying RBC Heritage leaderboard standards to display accurate and up-to-date scores throughout the round.

Assist spectators with information while loading and unloading spectator shuttles at Harbour Town Marina and parking areas.

Uniform Distribution: Provide information and distribute and organize volunteer uniforms and volunteer package material at volunteer uniform distribution in March.

Volunteer Tent: Oversee the tent that volunteers will report to at the start of their day and between shifts. Serve as the primary source of volunteer information to answer volunteer and Tournament-related questions. Help keep the tent stocked with food and drinks while maintaining an appealing area for volunteers to congregate.

Duties require moving and lifting supplies.

In addition to being integral to the success of South Carolina’s premiere PGA TOUR event, volunteers provide tremendous benefit to the local community. The professional attitude of our volunteers helps ensure a top-quality tournament year after year in the eyes of the tournament staff, players, spectators, sponsors and viewers. As a result, the Heritage Classic Foundation, Host Organization of the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing since 1987, has distributed $61.8 million to charities throughout South Carolina.

Volunteering for the RBC Heritage is also a great way to experience a PGA TOUR event from a unique perspective, whether it's inside the ropes on the course, up close with the TOUR Pros or working behind the scenes in critical areas that you never knew were part of the tournament. It also provides valuable experience working a PGA TOUR event for those beginning a career in sport management, as well as opportunities for networking, team building, and spending time with friends and family. All of this combines with knowing you played a key role in running a PGA TOUR event seen by millions, which gives back so much to the community.

Volunteer registration opens in the fall. First, review the volunteer opportunities to determine which committees interest you. Click here to submit your volunteer application with your contact information and volunteer committee preferences. You will be contacted shortly thereafter to discuss the current volunteer opportunities and details of the volunteer program. After speaking with the Volunteer Coordinator, you will receive your login information to complete your online volunteer registration.

Yes, you need to complete the online registration form each year. Once volunteer registration opens in the fall, you will be emailed new login information to complete the online registration. Returning volunteers who register in the initial registration period will be automatically assigned to the same committee as the previous year. If a returning volunteer wishes to change committees, they must contact the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible and will be reassigned on a first-come, first-served basis if space is available.

Yes. Your $125 registration fee covers the cost of the uniform, parking pass, shuttle transportation, food coupons and opportunity to purchase four discounted tickets. By charging a modest fee, the Heritage Classic Foundation is able to reduce overhead costs and help ensure that proceeds benefit local charities.

Volunteer uniform distribution will take place in March. Your Volunteer Package will include your uniform (jacket, shirt, hat- a $370 value), volunteer badge, parking pass and food coupons. Volunteers must provide their own black slacks and footwear as part of the uniform. If you can’t attend the uniform distribution, contact your committee chairman to arrange for someone else to pick up your Volunteer Package.

You’ll receive a parking hangtag for preferred parking inside Sea Pines (Hilton Head Preparatory School) for the days you’re working. Complimentary shuttle service will provide transportation to and from Harbour Town Golf Links.

There won’t be a place to store your personal belongings during your shift, so only bring the items you can carry with you. In addition to your complete uniform, we recommend you bring sunblock, tennis or soft-soled shoes (no spiked golf shoes), and bug repellent. Cell phones are allowed, but they must be kept on silent mode. Please note, volunteers are prohibited from using their cell phones during their shifts.

The Volunteer Tent, sponsored by TidePointe, a Vi Community and Palmetto Electric Cooperative, is located next to DOC's BBQ at the 15th green along Plantation Drive. Coffee, water, soft drinks and snacks are available to volunteers during their assigned shifts only. Complimentary volunteer shuttle service from the Volunteer Parking Lot drops off and picks up near the Volunteer Tent.

Volunteers are assigned to shifts according to their listed availability and are expected to meet their assignments. If an emergency comes up and you are unable to make your assigned shift, contact your committee chairman immediately.
